Common questions answered about the Sunshine Fund
Electricity demand in the U.S. is rising sharply, fueled by the rapid expansion of AI data centers and the broader shift toward industrial and residential electrification. Yet the grid, much of it built in the 20th century, is strained by congestion and permitting delays. Over 60% of U.S. electricity still comes from fossil fuels, making generation both expensive and carbon-intensive.
Meeting this growing demand while cutting emissions requires urgent, large-scale investment in affordable renewable infrastructure. The Sunshine Fund addresses this challenge with an integrated strategy focused on scalability, reliability, and domestic supply chain resilience. We invest in utility-scale solar and battery storage, now the most cost-effective, cleanest, and fastest-growing energy technologies globally.
By supporting U.S.-based manufacturing and technology onshoring, our model strengthens domestic energy security while accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy.
We target double-digit returns through efficient capital deployment and tax-advantaged structures. Our investments are de-risked by focusing on fully insured, permitted, and client-contracted projects. Additionally, using U.S.-made solar cells through our Suniva partnership unlocks Domestic Content and tax incentives that enhance returns.
We invest in large-scale solar and storage facilities in stable, mature markets across the U.S. Our current portfolio includes projects in Texas, California, and New Mexico, with capacities ranging from 150 to 250 MWac. All projects are permitted and backed by secured long-term offtake agreements with investment-grade clients. We are actively looking for additional >100MW solar and storage projects from developers with solid track records.
Through our partnership with Suniva, we secure domestic supply of U.S.-made solar cells for all our projects. This approach strengthens supply chains, reduces dependency on foreign imports, and qualifies our projects for Domestic Content and additional tax incentives under recent U.S. legislation.
The Sunshine Platform is our proprietary technology that streamlines clean energy Sunshine Platform enables businesses to invest in renewable energy with the potential for double-digit financial returns, while automatically managing Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) purchases to reduce Scope 2 emissions. Paired with Sunshine AI, which streamlines and accelerates permitting and regulatory processes, these technologies enhance our execution capabilities and unlock new, scalable pathways for clean energy investment.
We have over $1 billion in committed financing under term sheet and the capacity to deploy up to $20 billion annually in renewable energy projects.
By investing in and deploying solar and battery storage at scale, we help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, which still account for over 60% of U.S. electricity generation. Our projects deliver clean, affordable energy while strengthening domestic energy security through decentralized, renewable infrastructure. Each deployment supports U.S.-based manufacturing and the onshoring of advanced energy technologies, contributing to a more resilient supply chain. In parallel, we drive local job creation and long-term economic growth in the clean energy sector.
